YogaWasi is, of course, a yoga studio, but sometimes we like to bring in variety whenever we can so that we have an opportunity to experience every type of healthy option.
Sometimes we have pilates, tai chi, meditation, barre method and all forms of yoga. But, now!!! We have Functional Fitness instructor Tatyana Kuchinskaya!
At the moment, you can find her in the evenings at 5:30-6:30 pm. Her classes are fun, energizing and strengthening! Come join after work in order to strengthen your body after a long day of sitting or to release any stress you may have accumulated throughout the day.
If you are a student with a limited class pass card but you would like to go to her classes after a morning yoga class then don't worry, you get a substantial discount. Instead of paying full price for the second class of the day, the classes are only 10 soles. This applies to all the classes by the way :)

You have really been working hard these past couple of weeks in your pilates and power yoga classes! I hope all that hard work is beginning to show and that your sore muscles won't discourage you from continuing your strong practices and self-love once I'm off in London. Just in case, I've included a quick video below that shows the sequence we were doing with those awesome rubber bands. I promise a better video soon! Until then, keep up the hard work and we will see each other upon the mats next week for a week of vinyasa, Barre and power yoga! (Prepare your core & arms).

I just love how playful and balanced Meghan is in this short yoga video. I've seen videos where yogis show you everything they can do without it actually being a fully balanced yoga flow. Not Meghan. :) She's got it down.

Weekly Yoga Pose Tip
Hi Everyone, Ashley here. :) I suspect that this might be my last official post in the YogaWasi blog as the owner of YogaWasi, but I need to tell you that I am so excited about who will be posting here in the future. YogaWasi has a new owner! And she's amazing! That means that we are staying open and; therefore, still providing lots of love filled Yoga classes for you :)

Hablando de mi experiencia con el yoga
Mi primer contacto con el YOGA fue en el 2000 cuando fui a Berkeley, California, USA. Tras tener las clases de yoga como parte de mi vida diaria, al regresar a Perú en el 2008 comencé a practicarlo por mi cuenta y mientras lo hacía en una esquina del gimnasio, algunas personas me preguntaban si podían hacer conmigo eso que estaba haciendo (por ese tiempo no se conocían aquí los asanas/posturas, así que solía hablar de sus beneficios).
Dado que el yoga no viene solo, también he hecho otros cursos, 3 años en el Instituto Psíquico de Berkeley, California, USA para estudios de meditación, sanación y lectura de aura, clarividencia, intuición de mujer, y en Perú masaje tailandés y Reiki 1.

Frozen Banana Ice Cream
This is an easy trick for making homemade "ice cream" in a blink of an eye. The trick is to have a really good blender and to eat it right away before it melts. These "ice creams" are dairy free. Dairy when it is cold and sweet, is the most mucus forming food there is, the epitome of kaphagenic, so we avoid this by using frozen banana and almond milk instead.

- 2 ½ frozen bananas (chopped in 2 inch chunks)
- 2 Tbsp raw cacao powder
- 6 leaves fresh mint and/or 8 drops of mint extract
- 2 tsp spirulina
- coconut water or almond milk to blend
- handful of cacao nibs or chocolate chips
- handful of pecans
1. Put chunks of banana in the blender and add the cacao, mint, vanilla and spirulina and fill with coconut water or almond milk just below the level of the banana, so some chunks of banana are still poking up, be careful not to add too much or your "ice cream" will be smoothie.
2. Blend well (may need some pulsing and assistance stirring with a wooden spoon). Should be very thick.
3. Add the cacao nibs or chocolate chips and pecans and pulse a few times so these stay chunky
4. Serve right away and garnish with fresh mint leaves
