This past Saturday YogaWasi offered a beginner workshop to students new to yoga. This workshop was designed to give students all the essential skills they needed in order to take part in most any yoga class and feel confident. It was a comprehensive workshop that taught students all the essentials they needed to help them start (or restart) them on their yoga journey - instilling them with the groundwork and confidence to attend regular classes or to begin a home-practice.
This workshop began by reviewing the basics of what yoga actually is and the ancient philosophy behind it. We learned about pranayama and then went on to personally experience the effects of three different types of breathwork. Students then learned about all the key groups of yoga postures necessary to perform Surya Namaskara A - Sun Salutations. And most importantly, they learned about alignment and the importance of breath in their practice. Finally, we ended our workshop with mediation and flow. Students were given a beginner's manual to help them begin or continue their practice at home. If you are interested in joining our next Beginner Workshop, simply sign up here by sending us an email with your information. Our next workshop will be offered in September on the 23rd. We look forward to meeting you and helping you along your yoga journey! To the beautiful students that joined us this past Saturday, Namaste to you and thank you so much for your beautiful presence and enthusiasm.

Hi lovely yogis, we have a little question for you. Would you prefer a 6:00-7:30 PM class or a 6:30-8:00 PM class --> Monday through Friday? Queridos yogis, tenemos una pregunta para ustedes. ¿Prefieren tener clases de lunes a viernes de 6:00 a 7:30 PM o de 6:30 a 8:00 PM? We understand that you may need to work early or late, which is why we are curious about which times for yoga work best for you. We truly do want to provide for as many people as we can and would hate to leave someone behind due to their schedule. Muchas gracias por tu tiempo ~ YogaWasi Teachers The schedule will change next week some and in September but then it will basically remain the same month by month. However, if we need to change the schedule for any reason, we will let you know here and on Facebook. You're also invited to join our mailing list! When we post a new weekly schedule or have to make any changes, we will email it to you. You can easily sign up HERE. Most classes are bilingual; however, some may only be in English or in Spanish. We ask you though to come to class with an open mind and without expectations. When we follow a yoga path, we follow a designated practice that clears pathways for experiential knowledge of this universal truth. The networks, methods, and practices are numerous and at times appear to be in conflict with one another. Within the confusing framework of learning, consider that there are as many methods as there are masters and teachers. Be respectful to all those who have gone before and to those who are emerging as the future light bearers of Yoga. For our own light of remembrance, it is important not to condemn, ridicule or vehemently oppose any system. We all gravitate towards that which seems more in harmony and keeping with our inner nature. Those balances on the outer rims of independence and individualism would surely be excluded if there was only one way, one method, one teacher, one pathway to Self and universal awareness. If you feel that you would prefer a different class time than the ones currently offered, then please let us know! We will try to accommodate as many work schedules as we can. For example, if 6:30 pm works better for you than 6:00 pm, please let us know by sending us a Facebook message, email or even a WhatsApp message. We would love to hear from you. If you're new to yoga, take a look at this 20-minute Ashtanga Yoga Fundamentals class by an amazing teacher, Laruga Glaser. Most all Vinyasa classes will draw inspiration from the Ashtanga Yoga sequence. It's a wonderful preparation video for those new to yoga, or even for those experienced :) Namaste Lovely Yogis ~ Ashley |
